Flames, Friendship, and Forever: The Story of Justin and Lam Harb

When Justin Harb stepped into culinary school, he couldn’t have imagined the bond he’d form with Lam, born in Thailand and raised in Canada. Their connection ignited during a flambé mishap that left them both laughing, setting the stage for a lifelong partnership.


Lam’s cooking journey began in her family’s kitchen, mastering Thai flavors from her mother. Justin, from Essex, Ontario, grew up on hearty comfort food but pursued his culinary passion with determination. After school, their paths diverged - Lam deepened her skills in Thailand, while Justin thrived in Canada’s fine dining scene.


Reuniting later, they opened House of Pad Thai, blending Lam’s heritage with Justin’s refined techniques. The restaurant’s success fueled their next venture: Chopstix, continuing to offer comforting, healthy Asian dishes inspired by their travels & culinary experiences together. Closing House of Pad Thai to focus on Chopstix, they built a community favorite with signature dishes like Pad Thai and Pho.


Balancing family life with three young children, Justin and Lam stayed grounded, sharing their journey with loyal customers. Today, Chopstix thrives in their hometown Tecumseh, a testament to their love for food, each other, and the flavors that brought them together.
